Boudoir Prive: The September Box

Beauty boxes seem to have taken on a life of their own in the past few months and the latest one that I've heard of is the Boudoir Prive beauty box.  The basic premise behind the Boudoir Prive beauty box is that you pay  £10 a month and in return, you're sent a box of five or six deluxe samples.  The FAQ section is pretty well detailed so have a read as my introduction isn't really comprehensive.

My Boudoir Prive box turned up yesterday morning when I was smack bang in the middle of washing the mane that is my hair.  This didn't stop me instructing Simon to take some photos of it and then to open it up and let me know what was in there.
My inability to wash my hair quickly and my impatience are the only reason he was allowed to touch something so precious.  His descriptions were about as articulate as any man gets when it comes to makeup  He told me I got "a nail varnish, two tubs of cream, a pencil and some paper..oh and some oil".

This is actually what came in my Boudoir Prive box..
  • Tropic Skincare Body Smooth
  • Colbert MD Nourish Eye Cream
  • Macadamia Hair Repair Healing Oil Treatment
  • Zoya Nail Polish Smoke and Mirrors Collection: Marina
  • Mai Couture Blot and Bronze
  • CARGO Cosmetics Boogie Nights Eyeliner Aqua

Rudimentary swatches..

What I like about it:
  • The packaging.  It comes packaged in a way that make you feel like you're really getting something special.  The box reminds me of when you buy a proper designer bag and it comes in a box.  I sound a bit silly saying this but the way products are packaged really sticks in my mind.  It's better than just shoving them in a shoebox and posting them out.  If a company put effort into the packaging, it shows (to me) that they actually take some care in what they're doing.
  • The personalised, hand written note: These always make me happy.
  • The range of samples: I got a nail polish, a scrub, skin blotting sheets, an eyeliner pencil, an eye cream and a perfume sample.
  • The size of most of the samples: You get a full sized Zoya nail polish which retails at about £9.00.
  • The box. It's a basic flap opening and it has a magnet in it so it closes itself.  I'm reusing it to put my bobbin thread in it.
  • The fact that it contains hair oil: My love for hair oil is no secret at all!

These are the complaints I have:
  • The blotting sheet:  They could have put a few more sheets in.
  • The size of the perfume sample: This is a pretty standard perfume sample size so I fail to see the deluxe part.  I've had perfume samples before that were substantially larger than this.

You can sign up for your own Boudoir Prive box here, it costs £10 a month and you get "five or six deluxe" samples.  Delivery is free (so all you pay is the £10 for the products) and you can cancel your payments at any time.  There's a section on their website where you can see all the brands that Boudoir Prive work with so you can read up on what could be in your box next month!

  2. Imo: The box was a PR sample, that's what started my urge to get the rest. I found a site where they're only £5.95 so I'm going to order the rest from there!

  4. Thanks Veronica! I've been using the Colbert MD cream since Monday and I'm pretty impressed with it..I saw results quite quickly so it seems that it is worth the price tag!
